Salt Flats

From the time we drove through the Bonneville Salt Flats on day one of our trip, we planned on returning for outfit photos on day nine. On Friday morning, it didn’t look as if our plan would work out: the sun was still below the horizon and the flats were muddy with a recent rain. We were nearly to Wendover when we arrived at a rest area in the saltiest bit, just in time for sunrise!

Hat, BCBG Maz Azaria. Sweater, INC. Shirt, Old Navy. Skirt, Mossimo. Tights, We Love Colors. Boots, Style & Co (thrifted)

We weren’t the only ones with the great idea to photograph the flats at sunrise.

The thick salt crust showed no evidence of the rain, other than a few salty puddles. (Jasper was unfortunate enough to taste one.)

Such a strange and lovely setting--such arresting pics, and in person it must have been even more beautiful. I must say that sartorially, the red in your cute hat and the red tights made me happy.
