Triangle

I’m still enamored with this shirt’s backless “surprise!” After layering it under a sweaterdress, only a triangle of back is exposed, but that’s maybe even more fun.

Waste of Space

These green shorts have proven themselves a complete waste of space in my capsule. I’d rather wear my little blue skirt as a warm-weather, casual bottom. But, since the shorts are in my 31-for-31 capsule, I documented them today.

Jacket, Allen B. Tee, Keller’s Pub. Shorts, Old Navy. Moccasins, Minnetonka. Bag, Charming Charlie. Sunglasses, Girl Props. Earrings, No Boundaries. Rings, vintage and thrifted.

While comfortable, these shorts really aren’t flattering without a high heel and/or strategic posing!

After this month, they’ll be banished to the yardwork/camping pile!

Rocket Dog

This is my second pair of Rocket Dog flats. I wore the first pair until they fell apart around my feet. I hope I like this pair as much!

Long Jorts

Let’s talk about the long denim cut-off (or jort). Are they ever cool? Do they have to be tight to the knee? Rolled at the hem? Is there a maximum length? I’m trying it out with a loose-ish pair, long and unrolled.

Jorts, Old Navy (cut from thrifted jeans). Tee, Target. Cardigan, Old Navy. Sandals, Mossimo. Earrings, vintage. Sunglasses, Girlprops.

I’m not sure if this is the look for me, but it is nice to have shorts that you can sit in and not worry about the spread of your thighs.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure these are going to be chopped shorter. Do you wear long jorts? What are your length/cut/styling specifications?

Starts With A "K"

The first letter of one’s name is the most important.

When I’m introduced to someone, I’ll most likely forget their name within 30 seconds, but I’ll remember what letter it started with. For example, the man I met in the YWCA sauna today was either Bob or Bill, but it definitely was a “B” name. (The terrible part about this story is that this guy is my neighbor and I’ve met him before. I have a special name amnesia.)

There is power in that first letter. Today, I’m delighted to share my first letter with Katniss, from the Hunger Games. And I dressed in a Katniss-inspired manner.

Jacket, H&M (thrifted). Tee, Jones New York (thrifted). Jeans, Vanilla Star. Bag, Mossimo. Boots, Vince Camuto. Necklace, Urban Outfitters.

I had to keep a little of my own “K” in the mix, so I opted for a printed top and bottom.

Katniss’ braid is the inside-out variety, but I’m not very practiced at that variation. Switching hands half-way around my head was enough challenge for me.

Super Tall

This is a lot of pant leg. I have to wear super high heels to keep the hems from dragging. But the overall effect makes me look very tall. I won’t complain.

I’m proud of my super-bargain outfit (nothing more than $25), braiding skillz, and unbeatable balance. (You try prancing around in these heels on a rubble slope.)
