Skirt and Tank and Vest

Jane has come up with the toughest wardrobe capsule challenge yet: 5 garments for 5 days.* Well, maybe it isn’t SO tough because the rules also allow for unlimited accessories, including shoes.

To keep things simple, I’ll tell you which of the five items I’m wearing each day in the title.

Vest, Forever 21. Tank, Julie’s Closet. Skirt, Eddie Rodriguez. Necklace, Macy’s. Studded bangle, Girl Props. Other bangles, Epcot Morocco. Shoes, Two Lips. Bag, Express.

Honestly, the toughest part of the challenge will be refraining from spilling food on myself. I don’t have time to launder mid-week.

*Okay – so I misread the rules. The challenge is 6/4 – 6/11. That’s 8 days. But I’m sticking with 5. Even that is tough.

Ready for Adventure

Beefy and I made our first trip to the Tri-State Antique Market last October. I was in junk heaven. Sadly, it was the last market of the season and I pined for it all winter. The market reopened in May, but we weren’t able to attend until today.

Hat, No Boundaries. Dress, Jams World (thrifted). Waist bag, Happy Cow. Sneakers, Champion (thrifted). Earrings, self-made.

It was a wonderfully cool, sunny, and breezy day. The gusts of wind were delightful, but resulted in multiple wardrobe malfunctions. I finally had to resort to tying my hoodie around my waist.

There were many incredible items at the antique market…

And I brought home some treasures…

But this was, by far, the most awesome sight of the day:

Loveland Castle

Beefy and I had some time to kill in Loveland today, so we headed to the Loveland Castle.

It had closed a few minutes before, but I trespassed just a little to get a few shots on the stairs.

Dress and earrings, No Boundaries. Belt, thrifted. Bag, Coldwater Creek (embellished by me). Boots, Dan Post.

Since Beefy and I started seeking out fun photo locations, we’ve really begun to appreciate Cincinnati. We seem to have hit upon a fun way to explore the city. Even Beefy, who’s lived here his whole life, is discovering new places. If you’re local, and not quite up to photographing yourself in random spots, check out Cincinnati Re-adventure to “rediscover” your home.

What Cincinnati-area location do you suggest we visit next?

Fringe for the Fringe

The Fringe Festival is all about novel and edgy art, not literal fringe. Wouldn’t it be great, though, to see hundreds of people wearing fringed clothing in Over-the-Rhine? Still, the people watching was pretty spectacular.

Vest, Sassoon (swap). Tank, Express. Skirt, hand-me-down (shortened and embellished). Sandals, Franco Sarto. Bag, MCI (thrifted). Sunnies, Girl Props. Necklace, borrowed from Tina.

Queen of the Ohio

I’m not sure what to think of this necklace. Is it obnoxious or fabulous? Beefy avoided value judgments altogether and described it as “Egyptian.”

I am Kasmira, Queen of the Ohio.

Lace cardigan, Rodarte for Target. Dress, Lipstick. Belt, thrifted. Shoes, Charles David. Sunnies, Girl Props. Necklace, Macy’s.

Five Necklaces

I’m wearing five necklaces today. For the record, I was wearing seven, but I took two off.

Beefy thought I should title this post: “Mr. T is a black man with a Mohawk.” Because that’s what I responded with when he told me I resembled Mr. T. Of course, I know it was the necklaces that drew the comparison. However, I’ll point out, once again, that I showed a great deal of restraint when accessorizing today. According to Wikipedia, it took Mr. T an hour to put on his jewelry. It took me less than a minute.

Dress, City Triangles (mistakenly identified as London Times, earlier) (swap). Belt, Mimi di N (thrifted). Necklaces, swap, Target, and Body Central. Shoes, Mossimo. Headband, self-made. Gold-tone bangle, swap. Bamboo bangles, Garden of the Gods gift shop.

Memorial Day Remembered

The day after Memorial Day seems like appropriate timing to wear my repurposed uniform skirt from my USMC days. Naturally, I’ve accessorized with earrings made with ammunition casings.

Blouse, Romeo + Juliet Couture. Skirt, USMC. Bracelet, Pangaea. Earrings, Jana’s Designs. Shoes, BCBGeneration. Bag, Payless.

This is the skirt from my USMC service uniform. I added the black lace trim at the waist and hem. Here’s how I’ve worn it as a civilian:
