Goes Without Saying

Do I even need to mention that I’m pattern mixing again? Mod florals, leopard, polka dots. No one’s surprised any longer.

I remember when simply combining odd colors (whoa! lime and turquoise!) or innovative layering (collared shirt under strapless dress!) used to thrill me. Those were simpler times.


One of these days, I’m going to start wearing nothing but dark skinny jeans, black tunics, and ballet flats. Then, you’ll be surprised.

I'm Okay

For the second time, I had a run in with the police while taking my outfit pictures.

Last time, Beefy and I were taking photos outside the Crosley Radio Factory. That site is a target for vandalism and graffiti, so it is closely monitored. The police verified that we weren’t adding to the problem and left us alone.

Today, I was returning to my car, parked on the side of a highway, when the highway patrol slowed to ask me if I was okay. Thankfully, I was done with my pictures, so I could assure him that I was fine and hurry on home.


Mostly, the encounters have just been embarrassing. I can’t seem to say, “I’m okay, I just have a really weird hobby.”

Fuzzy Headed

Anonymous asked me if I was “drank” (sp) when I bought this top. I wasn’t, but I felt a little blurry around the edges (although absolutely sober!), today. I think it’s just a case of the Mondays.

Last Escape

Our puppy, Jasper, arrives in a week. Our weekend in San Francico was our last dog-free adventure for many months.

Somehow, we ended up at a dog-park on Friday night, wishing Jasper were already here. But we were glad for one more puppy-free day at Alcatraz on Saturday.

True Dreams

I once read that dreams are mental practice for situations we will face in the days ahead. After last night, I’m well prepared for the mundane (taking the garbage out) and the fantastic (zombie apocalypse). I guess that’s what happens when you watch Walking Dead the evening before trash day.

Owling

We’ve moved from general birding to owling. We have no idea how it’s done, so we tried to attract the owls with hooting and mouse squeaks. (It seemed more productive than merely wandering in the dark woods, staring into trees.) Maybe that worked because we think we saw an owl flying away from us, twice.

Happy Birdday

Beefy’s birthday was a birding extravaganza. We started the day with sunrise donuts at the American River among various waterfowl. I then headed to swim practice and he returned to the river to take pictures (trying to identify a mystery duck!). After lunch, we went to Cosumnes and then Yolo for more bird fun.

The birding highlight was perhaps the giant flock of pelicans we spotted at Cosumnes. We also saw other new-to-us species like the yellow-rumped warbler (also known as the “butterbutt”), pintails, and the red-winged blackbird.

I See Flowers

Being new to the area, I’m hesitant to say that spring is here, but the bushes and trees are blooming and this field is a sea of yellow flowers.

I felt kind of lame that I didn’t wear a themed outfit for Valentine’s Day, until I saw the Prabal Gurung for Target commercial this evening and learned that the collection was called “Love.” So I’m festively dressed, after all, in two pieces of Love, the tee and the pumps.
