Hookey

Did I play a little hookey today? Well, I’m not going to admit to anything.

Blazer, So…(thrifted). Blouse, FY2 (thrifted). Skirt, Rafaella (thrifted). Boots, Vince Camuto. Brooch, vintage. Necklace, Macy’s.

I can keep a secret better than anyone else I know.

A Thanksgiving Outfit

I didn’t wear this to a Thanksgiving celebration, but on the last day that most of my coworkers would be at the office prior to the holiday. The occasion called for a little festive color. Christmas is red and green. Thanksgiving is all the colors of the fallen leaves.

Vest, MacGregor (thrifted). Sweater, The Limited. Skirt, Talbot’s (thrifted). Tights, We Love Colors. Shoes, J Crew. Pendant, vintage. Bracelets, vintage, Garden of the Gods gift shop, and Target.

I’ve got another day in the office to go, but, to all of you starting your holiday earlier, Happy Thanksgiving!

If you’re still in a quandary over what to wear to Thanksgiving dinner, here are a few fall-festive outfits I’ve worn in the past. I hope you find inspiration.

That Chick from Cincinnati

I just can’t help myself from checking out what people are saying about this blog on message boards and in forums. I suppose it’s a bit like eavesdropping: thrilling and brutally honest. Ad hominem attacks aside, I get some of my best feedback when it’s unsolicited and uninhibited.

Blazer, Odds ‘n Evens (thrifted). Tee, Jones New York (thrifted). Skirt, Leslie Faye (thrifted). Belt, thrifted. Boots, Rampage. Brooch, from my grandmother. Fake glasses, Hot Topic.

I’m identified in various ways. I might be “Kasmira” or “that WhatIWore2Day blogger” or “that chick from Cincinnati.” I was puzzled to find myself referred to as an “OG fashion blogger.” I had to call Beefy and ask him what it meant*. Apparently, I’m an Original Gangster. I definitely prefer OG to “that chick from Cincinnati.” (I object to the “chick,” not the association with Cincinnati.)

I ignore the references to my “hideous outfits” (I bet this one qualifies**!) and concentrate on the other comments. I’m glad to see that regular posting, thoughtful writing, and limited advertising are appreciated.

*We had a good laugh at my cultural ignorance.
**Too many colors and patterns for general consumption, but just my taste!

Across the Street

My poor neighbors. They have to endure my weedy yard, my marauding cats, and the slowly decaying car in my driveway. Now, I’ve put the house across the street on my blog without permission. But it’s only visible because I cut down the two Norway spruce that were threatening to fall on someone's home. See? I’m a good neighbor after all.

Blazer, from New Gate Celtic Theater. Scarf, thrifted. Tee and skirt, Mossimo. Tights, Hue. Boots, Vince Camuto. Earrings, gift.

I'm also very quiet. Except when I practice my singing with the windows open. But that only happens in mild weather. And, hey, maybe they enjoy my songs.

1st Christmas Song

This morning, I heard my first Christmas song of the season. I was ordering a post-swim latte (hey, it’s protein) and noticed that Starbucks had already started the holiday jingles. The experience may have influenced my outfit color choices today.

Sweater, Laura Leigh Ltd. Shirt, Mossimo (thrifted). Skirt, London Jean. Tights, We Love Colors. Boots, Vince Camuto. Necklace, Target. Below: Vest, Daisy Fuentes (swap). Bag, Mossimo.

Christmas songs before Thanksgiving? Are you serious?

If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.
