Sorta 60's

It’s been a thrift-tastic week so far. I was eager to wear all my new goodies from thrifting in Denver. Today, I debut this dress from the Assistance League of Denver.

Dress, Chadwick’s (thrifted). Scarf, Old Navy. Brooch, my grandmother. Watch, Louis Arden. Shoes, Wet Seal. Bag, vintage.

I wanted to pair this scarf and dress, but didn’t have a good place to tie it on. I used a brooch to pin the folded scarf in place and then I tied a simple, overhand knot. (At first, I tried knotting and then pinning, but that didn’t work as well.)

You are a genius! I'm totally stealing this pinning-the-scarf look! Love it!

scarves are so fun, and while I have not yet tried this way of wearing them, yet, I think there's something so upper-crust chic about it! The bright, citrusy colors are adorable against the print of the dress :o)

Hmmm, that scarf trick looks somewhat familiar!

Yes, sorta 60's !
That dress was a great find.... if the previous owner saw it now, they probably would want it back.

My friends and I loved your Denver thrifting post! I've lived in Boulder for five years, and they've collectively lived in Denver/Boulder for decades, and we're old hands at the ARCs, Buffalo Exchanges and Good WIlls, but none of us had ever heard of the Assistance League on E. Colfax, and we're planning an expedition to check it out. We also all work a few blocks from the Denver BX, and so we hit it at least once a week. The staff can look intimidatingly hip, but they are all super nice, and I've scored Prada, YSL, Gerard Darel, Walter, Cynthia Vincent and even some quite good 30's-80's vintage there, as well as obscure French and Italian labels! Worth more than a browse when you're in Denver next. The Boulder BX isn't quite as designer-laden, but can also turn up some great finds, although both are, as so many consignment stores are now, awash in tatty used F21 stuff. In Boulder, you missed Candy's Costumes on Broadway - a bit overpriced, but guaranteed high-quality 50's clothes; Rags Consignments, by Glacier Ice Cream on 28th - slightly pricier than BX, less funky and more business wear, and pickier about labels; and Goldmine Vintage, in the middle of the Pearl St Mall - a mix of very good vintage, fairly priced and hung by decade, with affordable contemporary clothes, jewelry by local designers, and a small but quality selection of vintage cowboy boots, all well under $100. Can't wait to see how you wear the rest of your finds!
