Coordinated

As much as I love clashing colors and patterns, matchy matchiness still holds appeal for me. I bought this patent purse at an antique mall during our cross-country drive. Now I can match my shiny navy shoes to a shiny navy bag. Today, as a matchy bonus, my hair matches my tights and my ensemble matches the background.

Shrug, Forever 21. Dress, vintage, thrifted, shortened, and embellished. Belt, swap. Tights, We Love Colors. Shoes, Oh Deer! Bag, vintage. Ring, Jan Michaels San Francisco.

Bad Ass

Blouse, Express. Skirt, Talbot’s. Belt, from a Jones New York dress. Pumps, Pulse. Studded cuff, Hot Topic. Owl necklace, thrifted. Bag (pictured below), thrifted and vintage.

I’ve been a studded kick lately. Somehow, I imagine that wearing studs makes me “bad ass.”

My owl pendant is not bad ass, but he is so freaking adorable that I could not resist wearing him.

And to completely spoil my tough image, I’m toting the most ladylike of purses.

Ah, who am I kidding? Even when I was a Marine, no one thought I was bad ass. I give up.

Last Day

Cardigan, J G Hook (swap). Blouse, Forever 21. Trousers, Moda International. Pumps, Oh Deer! Pendant, thrifted. Sunnies, Rampage. Handbag, Franco Sarto. Tote, Tommy Hilfiger.

Today is the second (and last day) of a training event I’ve coordinated. I wore this cardigan on Day 2 of the training last year. I guess it’s my serious, academic look.

I almost wore the same skirt, too, but this blouse looked really stupid tucked in.

Look at all this patent! I was even further burdened by a coat, an overnight case, a handcart loaded with training materials, and eight lunches. (No, I didn’t eat all eight.)

I love ruffles. And pink. And magnolia blossoms.

Holly Jolly

Dress, London Times. Tights, Hue. Shoes, Nine West. Earrings, Claire’s.

I sort of accidentally ordered these shoes. I had them on my Amazon wishlist (in the orange/mustard/brown multi) from this summer. When I went to buy a few gifts for family (also saved to my wishlist) I found that the shoes had been marked down to $23.99, but were only available in black patent. I couldn’t resist the low price and free shipping. The black makes them perfect to swap out with my lace-up pumps.

I had to work some Photoshop magic to capture the true color of the tights in the lead pictures. The flash made them appear bright blue. This indoor photo, with no flash, shows the purple color as it appears in life.

P.S. I wore this to a holiday party. This is what I wore last year to the same event.

Patent Uniform

White oxford bodysuit, Moda International. Red patent belt, Xhilaration. Gray skirt with single kick pleat, Eddie Bauer. Black fishnet stockings, No Boundaries. Black patent slingbacks, Audrey Brooke. Black patent headband, Claire’s Boutique.

I felt a little like I was wearing a uniform today with the blocks of white, red, gray, and black. Still, I liked the way it looked and I was very comfortable.
