Spotted Cat

I’ve been saving this leopard and polka dot mix for just the right occasion. I figured an audition qualified.

Dress, Jovovich Hawk for Target. Shirt, FY2 (thrifted). Belt, thrifted. Boots, Vince Camuto. Earrings, No Boundaries. Jacket (below), H&M (thrifted).

This was a fine outfit for singing, but it’s a little tight in the shoulders for dancing. I couldn’t raise my arms much above my shoulders for the tap dance portion of the audition. I don’t think anyone noticed, though. I distracted them with my abysmal tapping and terrified smile.

Dye, Dye Again

Not all of my dye adventures come out as expected. I took an off-white denim vest from the U•turn Swap with the intention of dyeing it a darker color. I treated it with RIT Dark Green dye and got….

70’s denim blue.

I can think of two possible explanations for the unexpected color:

1. I didn’t leave the garment in the dye bath long enough (I made a timing error and the washer started draining after 15 minutes instead of the recommended 30), so the blue dye penetrated but the yellow dye didn’t.

2. Magic.

I’m leaning towards explanation #2.

Vest, Old Navy (swapped and dyed). Dress, London Times (hand-me-down). Scarf, Gap (I think). Shoes, Colin Stuart. Bag, Franco Sarto. Earrings, Jana’s Designs.

I may try to dye it dark green, again, and defeat the gremlins.

Upscale Casual Palette

Cropped jacket, No Boundaries. Cowl-neck tank, Apt 9. Skirt, Merona (via swap). Shoes, Mossimo (visible in below picture). Bag, Franco Sarte. Watch pendant, Victoria’s Secret.

Like last summer, I’m loving “black and tan.” I don’t like drinking them (Guinness = yuck!), just wearing the color combination. It’s perfect for summer – a sort of upscale casual palette.

Oh! Time to go to rehearsal.

Free WIFI

Corduroy blazer, American Eagle (I think). Gray cardigan, NY & Co. Yellow tee, Charlotte Russe. Red mini, H&M. Navy leggings, Danskin. Cowboy boots, Playhouse. Gray scarf, gifted. Hummingbird earrings, World Market. Gray headband, Bitten.

I worked both days this weekend. We spent Saturday at the College Hill Coffee Company, using the free wireless. On Sunday, we attempted to change up our location, but Panera and Caribou Coffee weren’t kind to my system. We ended up back at CHCC again.

I used to think wearing a headband with a ponytail was redundant. Now that I have long bangs, it has a purpose. Plus, I like that 60’s effect you can get by teasing the crown and then squishing the front with a headband.

These earrings were only $5 at World Market. (See them closer here.)

Cameo

Sheer coral blouse, Worthington. White cropped cardigan, Express. Tan slacks, Moda International. Tan slingbacks, Linea Paolo. Gold-tone paisley chandelier earrings, World Market. Cameo choker, vintage.

It’s sort of ironic that the element I designed this outfit around isn’t really visible in the long shot. I’m wearing coral and white to complement my cameo choker. I went through a cameo craze two years ago and this is one of the pieces I bought. I’ve included a detail shot so that you can appreciate just how lovely it is.

P.S. That’s my neighbor, Jimmy, getting into his car behind me!
