Nice Bun

As a pedestrian in Cincinnati, I’m accustomed to hearing honking and hollering from the passing cars. I assume it isn’t directed at me and ignore it. Even if I am the object of attention, it’s usually negative and responding only encourages the harassment. Occasionally, though, someone I know is trying to get my attention and they’re nonplussed when I give them the cold shoulder.

Poor …bill was honking at me as I crossed Sycamore this morning and I completely ignored him. He just wanted to say: “Nice bun*!”

Sweater, Banana Republic (thrifted and gifted). Dress, Jones New York. Bag, Nine West. Shoes, Fioni. Earrings, rings, and cuff, vintage. Necklace, Serket Jewelry.

*Usually, I hear “nice buns” from the passing vehicles…so you can understand why I don’t respond.

At the risk of sounding creepy I totally see you everyday. My office is the big green building on sycamore.

All creepiness aside, I had a bum today on court street tell me, "You look mighty nice today m'am."

I wish I got that more instead of the hoots and the hollers.

The bldg across from Silverglades? I guess I'm going to have to stop picking my nose as I walk around downtown!

LoL! Your hair is sooo long and that jacket? WoW!
Next month (i'm on a shopping walk-a-bout) we should hit the west side!
You won't hear 'nice bun' here as football helmut hair is the thang...

I love your outfit today and you do have a nice bun!
About 30 years ago, I was standing in my front yard sketching my house. Some teen age boys were riding bicycles down the street and one hollered "Nice ass". When I turned around, he turned a bit red and added "For an Old Lady." My husband and I still laugh over that!

I have a similar skirt. Its nice to see how you styled it, tho I may end up taking in some of the volume on mine.

Lol! I would have ignored it too. I think city living makes you center more on yourself to block out noise, traffic, and people.

I love your jacket, and your hair! It is a pretty nice bun. ;D

What a fun way to style a zebra print! The pops of turquoise and red are great and the blazer's pattern adds some fun.
In response to your comment on my blog: yes, I do live in Hawaii! :)

'honk honk'
means: 'nice stripes, Kasmira, but my window's up so i can't just yell that out.'

(add a Doppler effect for a proper rendition.)

that had me laughing all morning. 'nice bun' was later--i'm not fast enough to think that up on the fly =] ...but it was a very regal bun.

i love living in our big village-city.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who ignores honking and/or yelling! I hate it, and I've found that, like you, acknowledging it only increases the negative encounters of my day!

[i honk at people to say 'hi' all the time--grew up in the country--we do that i guess. but i texted to explain it was me honking because, well, 'honk honk' just means 'hi' usually, but that time it meant 'nice stripes/nice bun'=]

Your bun puns made me laugh! But I also feel your pain; there is nothing more unsettling than having to battle catcalls when you're just going about your business. You dress for you, not for them. Ugh!
