Jade

It’s been a while since I did a blue and green mix. This blend of periwinkle, turquoise, teal, mint, lime, and jade has a cool, watery feel.

Shirt, American Eagle (thrifted). Skirt, J Crew (consignment). Shoes, Colin Stuart. Sunglasses, Girl Props. Necklace, Phai’s House of Jade. Bag, Imoshion. Jacket, INC (consignment).

Novelty Print

Evidently, novelty (or conversational) prints are trending. Horses, cats, birds, and insects seem to be the most popular animals to be printed on clothing this spring. But I still love my dog-portrait skirt.

Shirt, American Eagle (thrifted). Skirt, Herman Geist (vintage and shortened). Belt, thrifted. Shoes, Fioni. Bracelets, vintage and Garden of the Gods gift shop. Cuff, Target. Earrings, self-made. Bag, Fossil (gift).

My skirt has never started a conversation, though. Well, other than the recurring one where Beefy expresses his dislike* for the print.

*Okay, I start that conversation, not Beefy. And it usually goes like this:

“I’m wearing your favorite skirt!”
“Ugh. The dog skirt?”
“Yup!”
“Why?”
“Because it’s cute!”
"It's really not my favorite."
"I know."

Stimulating, eh?

Magnolia Time

Hey, kids, guess what time it is? Magnolia time! This might be my favorite time of year in Cincinnati. The best part is, due to the different varieties, magnolia time lasts until June, when the Sweet Bay magnolias finally bloom.

Dress, MNG for Mango. Boots, Vince Camuto. Socks, Sock Dreams. Bag, Modani. Watch, Unlisted. Volcanic glass earrings, Made in Oregon store. Jade pendants, Phai’s House of Jade.

Beefy and I are considering the trees to replace the Norway Spruce I had to remove last summer. We are contemplating (surprise!) magnolias. He’s a fan of the star magnolias, while I like the fat, lush blooms. We have room for both. Over the years, I’ve planted a star magnolia, Little Jane, Daybreak, and a Sweet Bay in the yard. I’d be happy repeat any of those or add a new variety.

Okinawa

I lived in Okinawa for over three years. But the most Japanese-looking garment I own came from a Cincinnati thrift store last Saturday.

Kimono top, thrifted (no tag). Lace tank, George. Skirt, Mossimo. Shoes, J Crew. Bag, Apt 9. Earrings, vintage. Necklace, Phai’s House of Jade.

All About the Back

Dress, Blu Heaven. Boots, Blowfish. Jade charms, Phai’s House of Jade. Arrowhead pendant, thrifted. Clutch, Carlos Santana. Jacket (below), Dex.

The front of this dress is cute enough, but it’s the back that I love.

A jacket because open-back dresses are cold.
