Plaid vs Gingham

Assigning names to patterns can get confusing. This skirt is definitely a plaid, but the top can be described with a few different terms. Some might call it gingham and some might call it buffalo plaid (or buffalo check). Technically, I believe the squares are too large for gingham. It’s buffalo* something-or-other. I prefer “check,” since that’s less confusing than “plaid.”

Tunic, Wet Seal. Skirt, Hauber Sporting Life. Belt, Buckle. Booties, Madden Girl. Bracelets, World Market, Claire’s, and Fort. Bag, D&G knockoff (thrifted).

I’ve only created tags for “gingham” and “plaid,” so this tunic has been tagged incorrectly every time I’ve worn it.

*I’m not sure what buffalo have to do with the pattern. Maybe it's like "magic eye" and if you stare at it long enough a buffalo will appear.

Field Work

Keeping this blog up is tough work. Not only do I have to get dressed and photographed each day, but occasional field work is required, too. Today, Beefy and I tromped all around Eden Park so that we could get some establishing shots for my December The Set post.

Sweater, Mossimo (thrifted). Tee, Jones New York (thrifted). Skirt, Jack BB Dakota. Belt, thrifted. Leggings and sunglasses, Xhilaration. Boots, Vince Camuto. Scarf, gift. Earrings, Epcot Mexico. Bag, H&M.

Been Around the World

This is quite the global outfit. I’m wearing Mexican earrings, Scottish tartan, and a Thai skirt. I’ve got three continents covered.

Jacket, Forever 21 (overdyed). Blouse, Romeo + Juliet. Skirt, Thailand. Shoes, American Eagle for Payless. Earrings, Epcot Mexico.

Black and White Cookie

I had originally planned to wear this outfit to the Holiday Style Blogger Bash, but got the wild idea to wear plaid flannel with a sequin jacket to that event instead. The two ensembles may seem very different, but they are both a study in contrasts. My favorite outfits include a juxtaposition of colors, patterns, or levels of formality. I suppose it’s my way of balancing my own universe. A little yin and a little yang.

Jacket, Allen B. Dress, Lipstick. Turtleneck, Target. Tights, Urban Outfitters. Bag, Fossil. Boots, Rampage. Brooch, Sarah Coventry (thrifted). Rings, vintage. Cuff, gift.

These tights are like the hosiery equivalent of the black and white cookie. (Although I feel more like cheesecake in this silly pose. It was more difficult than you might think to get a photograph that showed off the bicolor tights, but didn’t look scandalous.)

Did I make the right choice of outfit for the blogger event? Which outfit better represents my style?

Kasmira's best outfit for the Holiday Style Blogger Bash is...
