Electric Blue

Jacket, Forever 21. Dress, Sele. Tights, Chinese Laundry. Booties, Sigerson Morrison for Target. Scarf (pictured below), World Market. Rain boots (pictured below), Target.

I looked, but the Target stores in my area didn’t have the blue Sigerson Morrison booties, so I ordered these bad boys online. I freaking love them. Between the electric blue booties and the star print galoshes (below) people stared at my feet all day.

Can't wear suede booties in the rain!

Kasmira for Target

It amused me to wear items from three different “Designer” for Target collections today: Rodarte, Richard Chai, and Sigerson Morrison.

Cardigan, Rodarte for Target. Dress, Richard Chai for Target. Belt, Sugadaminka. Necklace, vintage. Bag, Fossil (gift). Booties, Sigerson Morrison for Target. Sunglasses, Girl Props.

Will there ever be a Kasmira for Target collection? Unlikely. I’m no designer and, even if I were, my line would already be priced Target-cheap.

Easy

Our weather is thoroughly horrid. I’m trying to keep my clothing as loose as possible.

Vest, Urban Vibe. Dress, London Times. Booties, Sigerson Morrison for Target. Bracelets, Deb. Bag, Deux Lux.

Hobo Cat

It looks like a hobo cat snuck into my photos this morning. Can you spot the poor little kitty forced to huddle on a heating vent for warmth?

Jacket, Forever 21. Striped turtleneck, Gap (swap). Dress, Bitten (shortened). Tights, We Love Colors. Booties, Sigerson Morrison for Target. Brooch, vintage. Cat, Sammy.

We keep the house pretty cool, but I doubt the cats suffer in their fur coats. Still, they are attracted to heating vents, down comforters, and warm laps.

Now you see Sammy. Now you don't.

Imprisoned

I’m not sure what possessed me to pair the skirt I can’t walk in with the jacket I can’t move my arms in. I’m a prisoner in my own clothing. When I move, my jewelry jangles and it even sounds like I’m wearing shackles.

Jacket, Heart Moon Stars. Blouse, Worthington. Skirt, Moda International. Booties, Sigerson Morrison for Target. Bangles, Deb. Leaves necklace, Forever 21. Chain and charm, vintage.

LGTMAS: Rock and Roll

Scarf, stolen from a play. Vest, H&M. Striped sweater, Banana Republic (thrifted). Tank, Charlotte Russe. Jeans, Express. Booties, Sigerson Morrison for Target. Bag, Bitten. Ring, Rafia & Boss. Necklace, Kenneth Cole Reaction.

This look was so much fun. I think I’m a convert. I’ll definitely be on the look out for edgier elements in my clothes and accessories, like studs, skulls, and black leather, in the future.

Inspiration from the book:

I’ve got TWO Rock and Roll Lucky Blogger Girls. The first is Sara of Waitin Round 2 be a Millionaire. I’ve copied her picture format today (with my own addition of a lighting effect). The next time I chop my hair off, I’m going to copy Sara’s do (including the platinum color). The second rock and roller’s style I admire is Erin of Work With What You’ve Got. I love how she can make edgy look so pretty. (And I want to steal her biker jacket.)

In Search of Blue Booties

Sweater, Takeout. Tee, Charlotte Russe. Jeans, M Denim. Boots, Playhouse. Headband, Target. Kitty cat, Sammy.

I’m off to the library (picking up Momo* to reread) and Target. Although the official release date of the Sigerson Morrison line isn’t until 10/12, the shoes are available online, so I thought I’d see if the blue booties I’ve been lusting after were at my store.

Unfortunately, they were not. Now I’m in a quandary. Do I wait and see if they show up at my store? Do I order them online? Do I check other Target stores in the area? Or should I forget them altogether because they are too trendy?

*If you’ve ever read Momo, I saw the story performed as a modern dance piece by the studio I used to dance with in Okinawa. Because the narration and program were in Japanese, I had no clue (other than hearing the word “Momo” spoken a few times) that I was about to see one of my favorite books interpreted as a dance. By the time the Men in Gray came on, though, I was thrilled to recognize the story. The performance was simply amazing.

Peppercorn

Today, while cursing the very crunchy capers in my egg salad sandwich, I learned that pickled green peppercorns and capers are not the same thing. Oops.

Lace cardigan, Rodarte for Target. Dress, Ann Taylor Loft. Booties, Sigerson Morrison for Target. Jet beads, thrifted. Tassel necklace, borrowed from Tina. Belt, thrifted. Sunglasses, Girl Props. Bag, Franco Sarto.

If my booties were red, I’d be dressed like tri-colored peppercorns. But I wouldn’t swap these blue babies for red in a million years.

My favorite egg salad recipe:

1 hardboiled egg, chopped
1 T low-fat mayonnaise
1 t drained capers
1 t Dijon mustard
½ green onion, diced
Salt and pepper to taste

I just increase the dressing ingredients to account for the number of eggs I’ve boiled. I generally portion out the recipe so that I eat 1.5 eggs with each sandwich. Don’t substitute green peppercorns for the capers.

Primaries

Dress, Forever 21. Vest, Charlotte Russe. Booties, Sigerson Morrison for Target. Bag, Apt 9. Necklace, Urban Outfitters.

Coat, Bebe

I love these booties…but they are hard to pair things with! The intense color demands a neutral background and accents of a similar saturation. When I wear the shoes with skirts, I have to be careful that the skirt length and legwear elongate my leg to compensate for the bootie’s shortening effect. A recap of how I’ve worn them so far:

Any future suggestions?

Fly Away

Jacket, Urban Behavior (swap). Top, Japan. Jeans, To the Max. Belt, don’t remember. Booties, Sigerson Morrison for Target. Cuff, Hot Topic. Clutch, Carlos Santana. Sunnies, Rampage. Peacock feather earrings, gift from a fan.

I can’t help but show off this top’s sleeves every time I wear it. They are so fabulous. It’s a shame to wear anything at all on top of the blouse, but I’d freeze in the airconditioning without the extra layer. A short sleeved blazer or waistcoat keeps the sleeves in view, but unfortunately obscures the tie at the left shoulder.

Semi-arty shots of the blouse alone:

Sigh, I'm afraid the last photo will garner more pervmail, but I love the way the pose shows off the top's cut and drape.

Barbarella

Sweater, H&M. Trousers, Forever 21. Belt, Luxury Divas. Earrings, Nine West. Booties, Sigerson Morrison for Target.

I feel like Barbarella (a modest Barbarella) today. I think it’s the black, the hair, and the belt:

I tried to watch Barbarella once, but lost interest at the climactic (pun somewhat intended) fight scene with the lesbian queen. I was surprised to look up the run time and find the movie is only 98 minutes long. I guess my attention span is even shorter than I knew.
