Book Ball

Four years ago, I paired this velvet(een) dress with a button-down shirt and called it my “librarian look.” So, I guess today’s outfit is more “mild-mannered librarian goes to the Book Ball and reveals her inner can-can dancer.”

Shirt, J Crew. Dress, New York and Company (shortened). Metal belt, thrifted. Tights, We Love Colors. Shoes, Steve Madden. Earrings, World Market.

I’m sorry I have no high kicks for you. This bookworm needs a few drinks, first. (Or at least a cup of coffee!)

I so need to get more colors of tights. I love how much fun you have with yours!

That dress is awesome. I really like it shortened. I think everyone needs to feel a little like a saucy can can dancer from moulin rogue sometimes. Nothing wrong with that.

You look gorgeous and that's a whole new dress with the hem taken right up. Love the shoes and tights with it too. Fab.

The dress looks even more amazing shortened!

That dress looks so much better shortened. Love the chain belt over it - it really defines the waist.

I would pass you on the street and be instantly jealous that I'm not comfortable taking more risks with color, texture and patterns (please take this as a big compliment). I think the belt really added stome visual interest to mid section of the outfit and the ruffle collar looks great with the neckline of the dress.
