December Purchases

I had every intention of being on the “nice” list for December, but, well, Star Wars! Although my 2015 budget was already spent, I couldn’t resist some Star Wars apparel and a thrift shop on Boxing Day. (Oh, and I picked up a couple of pairs of earrings while shopping for Christmas presents.) I definitely made the naughty list.

Forever 21

1. R2D2 pullover, $24.90
2. Darth Vader leggings, $19.90.

If you follow my instagram (@KasmiraKit), you know I also bought the Jedi PJ pants, but I don’t count pajamas in my budget. (Even though I wore those pajama pants to a party. And it wasn't a pajama party.)

Disneyland

3. Star Wars hat, $30-ish. (I seem to have lost the receipt.)

Rose Bowl Flea Market

I’m not super keen on Disneyland, so I get to pick a second destination on our Mickey Mouse trips. I chose the Rose Bowl Flea Market. It was glorious AND I finished up my Christmas shopping.

4. Golden Grass Brazil leather tassle earrings, $18.00 x 2 = $36.00

Goodwill

5. Ferragamo wedges, $4.00.
6. Leopard stretchy belt, $1.00.
7. Embellished leather belt, $1.50.

December total: $117.30

Total spending for the year: $1976.39

Remaining 2015 budget: -$203.39.

I ended the year over my budget, but I did better than in previous years! In 2014, I was $500 over budget and in 2013, I was $1000 over budget.

For 2016, I have a clothing budget of $25/month. I have some large expenses coming up, so I plan to limit my “fun” shopping to thrift stores. (I don’t count things like underwear, pajamas, or workout gear in my budget.) I initially planned a budget of $0, but a few new things from the thrift store each month will stave off total wardrobe boredom (for me and you).

November Purchases

I’ve spent all of my 2015 budget (and a little more). December is for shopping for other people, anyway. (Except a quick trip to the thrift store for myself . . . )

Express

Now that I’m 40, I plan to wear way more stretchy pants.

1. Moto zip accent scuba legging, $69.90.
2. Mesh inset leggings, $19.90.

TJ Maxx

3. Steve Madden forest and tan handbag, $39.99 - $50.00 gift card = free!
4. Passport plaid shirt, $14.99 - remaining $10.01 on gift card = $4.98.

J Crew

5. Excursion quilted vest in navy/ivory buffalo check, $138.00. This item has since (of course) gone on sale, but I didn’t want to chance this colorway selling out while I awaited a discount.

Crossroads

6. Salt Valley shirt in red/black buffalo check, $16.50.
7. BCBG Max Azria leather jacket, $30.00

November total: $279.28

Total spending for the year: $1859.09

Remaining 2015 budget: -$86.09.

October Purchases

Two months left of the year and my shopping budget is nearly gone!

Krazy Mary’s

Some shopping advice: Don’t try on white tops after you’ve coated your hair with pink chalk. You’ll feel obligated to buy the item whether you really want it or not.

1. Gracia lace crop top, $26.60.

Stardust Remembered

2. Beaded shoulder dusters in pink, white, and brown, $25.00.

Coco Sunglasses

3. Giselle pearl embellished sunglasses, $9.99.
4. No label cateye sunglasses, $9.99.

Target

5. Mossimo olive leopard tee, $4.98

Violet Muse

6. Parker silk leopard-print dress, $45.

August Purchases

I made many, but inexpensive, purchases this month.

Crossroads

1. Mural neoprene leopard skater skirt, $10.50.
2. Forever 21 button-front denim skirt, $9.50.

Charming Charlie

4. Shell teardrop earrings, $10.00.
5. Gold earrings with dangling triangles, $10.00.
6. Southwestern leather and metal fringe earrings, $12.00. These are new favorites. I love the leather (or leather-like) material and the jingle of the metal tips as they sweep past one another.
7. Olive leopard sunglasses, $9.00.

I seem to have a "go to" pose for earrings and sunglasses. And I got a haircut!

TJ Maxx

8. Jessica Simpson blue tortoiseshell sunglasses, $12.99.

Old Navy

I browsed Old Navy for some tee-like, work-appropriate tops.

9. Lace-shoulder sleeveless tops in gray stripe and basil pesto, $16.94 x 2 = $33.88.

I'm wearing the olive version under the plaid tunic in the bottom picture.

August total: $122.87

Total spending for the year: $1477.24

Remaining 2015 budget: $322.76.

April Purchases

I was a big fat liar last month; I forgot to report a couple of dresses I bought from Express in March. I will come clean this month - and also showcase the newest additions to my “sensible shoes” collection.

Express

J’s Everyday Fashion gets a lot of GOMI hate, but this dress got some love. I liked it enough to order it in gray and black.

1. Long sleeve zipper back trapeze dress in gray and black, $25.41 x 2 = $50.82.

Target

Obviously, I need to stop reading fashion blogs, because the Budget Babe made me buy this shirt.

2. Mossimo lyocell shirt, $22.99

Nordstrom

The sensible shoes:

3. Isaac Mizrahi New York “Gillie” tassel loafer in red, $119.95.
4. Halogen “Lauer” loafer in turquoise, $99.95.

April total: $293.71.

Total spending for the year: $846.91

Remaining 2015 budget: $953.09.

That leaves me with only $119 per month for the rest of the year. I am going to shop more at thrift and consignment stores to stretch my dollars.

P.S. This is the 3000th post on What I Wore 2Day!
