Mother Tree

This tree dominates a large, open spot at Paradise Beach. I used to wonder why the surrounding area was barren and then I saw it flooded in December. The tree became an island! It’s a tough old tree, but wonderful for shade and climbing.

Vest, AC-3998 (cut from a thrifted jacket). Tee, Wellworn. Skirt, Carole Little (thrifted). Boots, Franco Sarto (consignment). Sunglasses, Meow Meow. Earrings, vintage. Bag, Melie Bianco. Bracelets, thrifted and Tala’s Distant Treasures.

This area, flooded, in December:

That's the same tree, in the background, from the other side

There’s no flood, now, but the river is still cool and deep, making this a popular summer destination in hot Sacramento! The American River Parkway Foundation provides free lifejackets for children to borrow and return after enjoying the river.

I try not to be too grumpy that the river is overrun with users in the summer, making free range doggy time difficult. Instead, we escape to the Sierra or agility sessions for exercise.

There is something magic about this tree. I still love how you mix old and new!

I love every way you mix this skirt - it is one of my absolute favorites - so eye-catching!
