Skirt, Herman Geist (liberated and shortened). Tunic worn as a shirt, Wet Seal. Belt, Banana Republic. Shoes, Two Lips. Bag, Mossimo. Bracelets, Epcot Morocco and Charming Charlie (via swap). Earrings, gift. Hair stick, Ramayana.
Whenever Beefy tries to explain his distaste for the dog skirt, I become confused. So, I asked him to write it down.
You know those shirts people wear that give the illusion of your body being the statue “David”?
Or those Christmas sweaters that have three dimensional objects hanging off of them, or make noise or whatever?
That’s kind of how I view the dog skirt. I’m all for patterns and letting your freak flag fly (like with the Fugly dress, which I love), but I feel that the difference is how literal it is in execution… or too obvious. Give me an abstract pattern every day. It can be as loud and crazy as you want it to be…
Oh.. and wearing a skirt that forces me to stare to figure out what in the heck kind of dog is in that one picture on your left knee just makes me feel weird.

I get it now. Beefy doesn't like trompe l'oeil clothing or other eye foolery. I, on the other hand, love messing with perception.

That skirt is genius! I think it's my favorite thing I have ever seen you wear (but I also like neon, unicorn shirts, and irony)...
I love this outfit! I don't agree with Mr. Muchacho...
Dear Mr Muchacho,
I do not agree with you. I think that skirt is adorable and kitchsy. (Did I spell that right?) Anyway,
Sincerely,
meg
That sounds just like something my boyfriend would say if I owned something like this (which, sadly, I do not). Oh, boys, they just don't get it...
Hilarious! I think it's often true that men don't "get" some of our favorite clothes. Oh well. :)
And I love it because it's so "I Love Lucy" combined with hokey crafty fabric, and is flattering to your figure. In other words, it's kitch, you look good in it and I like it.
I agree with Beefy. I am all for patterns and mixing them, but dogs or cats, those xmas sweaters with all kinds of decoration don't belong on a fashionista such as yourself. :) You'll probably look back at this skirt in a few years and think to yourself "What was I thinking?"
No way! This skirt is one of my favorite items in your wardrobe! The pattern is fun, but it's not nearly so un-subtle as the Chritmas sweaters, and it's also a really nice shape.
I'm so with Beefy on this one. The fabric reminds me of 1980's decor that was supposed to look manly.
I have to vote with Beefy, sadly. I think the cut of the skirt is fantastic and it is very flattering on you, but I cringe when I see the dogs. It kind of reminds me of some fabric my mum bought when I was in junior high, with the intention of making a horse quilt.
To me, that skirt seems like one of those things you run across thrifting. You pick it up thinking "How ridiculous!" and put it in your cart for laughs. You carry it around the store for awhile and by the time you reach check out time, it's attached to your heart like a terrible, amazing parasite.
I may not be sold on it, but I do understand the sentiment. I think it looks better in a winter-y styling than summery, but that's just personal opinion.
LOLZ!!!!!!!! I love Beefy!!!
I also LOOOOVE the skirt. It's one my my favorite pieces of yours. And this is probably my favorite way I've seen you wear it. I love the shoes! I love the whole combo!!!!!! Did I mention I love it?
I guess I just think the skirt is awesome, and I didn't even know you could find a print like it.

I have to say:
I love your taste.
I love your joi de vivre.
I love the shoes.
I love many other things about your site.
Not only is Beefy 100% correct, but the shirt's gotta go too.
Don't hate me 'cause I'm beautiful... there's plenty of other reasons...
too funny.. too bad he doesnt like the skirt.. but at least you can use it as a bargaining chip in the future when you want something.. and he is holding out all you need to do is threaten to wear the skirt!! guys are funny!! LOL
I like dogs..but the dog skirt IS kind of ridiculous...on the other hand, for what it is, it is fairly elegant because the portraits are arranged to make a geometric pattern...maybe beefy should just squint at it and pretend the dogs aren't there.
