Casual Elegance

I’m the last person to consider myself “elegant.” I’d say I’m “cute*” or “quirky.” But someone else said I looked “elegant” in this casual, holiday party ensemble, so I’m going to embrace the adjective.

Sweater, Express (consignment from our Sacramento Fashion and Style Meetup at Article). Skift, Bass (thrifted). Booties, Blondo. Scarf, flea market. Necklace, thrifted. Bag, Steve Madden. Raincoat, REI.

*How old does one have to be before “cute” no longer applies? I’m ready to outgrow that one.

Rewearing a Wedding Dress

Is it bad luck to wear your own (non-traditional) wedding dress to another’s wedding? We decided not . . . as long as you are still in that marriage. I wore my dress as a blouse, paired with a silk Thai skirt for a Tahoe wedding.

Dress (worn as a blouse), Parker. Skirt, Thailand. Shoes, Nine West. Sunglasses, Marc Jacobs. Necklace, Banana Republic (gift). Clutch, vintage gift.

Roar

This is the third place I tried outfit photos. The first two had lovely murals, but the light was not kind to my monthly body dysmorphia. I try to be all “I am woman, hear me roar,” but sometimes it’s more “I am woman, hear me bitch.”

Shirt, Mossimo. Skirt, Bass (thrifted). Belt, thrifted. Boots, Steve Madden. Earrings, Francesca’s Closet. Bag, Anne Klein (thrifted).

Birthday Dress

My birthday dress is just like my wedding dress! I’ve gotten a lot of mileage from my black and white, snake-print Parker dress. When I found the same dress in leopard print, for $45 on consignment, I did a little victory dance.

Dress, Parker. Boots, Joe’s. Earrings, Stardust Remembered. Bag, thrifted vintage.

I wore this to my birthday dinner at Ella with Beefy. My birthday is actually not on Halloween, but Ella is closed on Sunday and Monday (my birthday).

I didn’t take today’s 365 shot. Beefy took all these pics. But I’m claiming it for my set:

Pop of (Hair) Color

Even the most neutral of outfits are exciting when you have pink hair. How convenient it is to wake up already wearing my “pop” of color.

Blouse, BCBG Max Azria. Skirt, Mossimo. Shoes, Clark’s. Sunglasses, Marc by Marc Jacobs. Earrings, Charming Charlie. Bag, Apt 9.

Obviously, I love color. And it was the colors in this painting that so struck me that I made it today’s 365 photo:

Sit Still

This is a sitting still outfit. Not a get in and out of a sedan, stand up and down, reach overhead outfit. Unfortunately, I did not sit still and adjusted my clothing dozens of times as it crept out of place. I need a sitting still life.

Blouse, BCBG Max Azria. Skirt, Thailand. Boots, American Eagle (consignment). Sunglasses, Charming Charlie. Bag, Aldo.

My final task of the day in this outfit was to load Jasper and Jackson in and out of my car (taking them home from daycare). My outfit was all FUBAR after that exercise, but I no longer cared how I looked. Dogs don’t judge.

Thursday Friday

I so seldom see the same people more than once a week that I should just wear one outfit all week long. I wore this one on Thursday AND Friday and no one was the wiser.

Shirt, Banana Republic. Skirt, Carole Little (thrifted). Shoes, Gianni Bini. Sunglasses, Jessica Simpson. Earrings, Charming Charlie. Belt, H&M. Bracelets, Epcot Morocco. Bag, Aldo.

I barely made it to the end of the week. Wearing the same outfit, twice, helped. So did using one of my outfit photos as Friday’s 365:
