Please the People

I had originally planned to wear my tan, wool, J Crew blazer with this outfit, but was tempted by my newly thrifted suede and faux fur jacket at the last minute. I posted both looks to Instagram and Facebook and asked for opinions. Instagram users voted for the suede and faux fur jacket, while Facebook users voted for the wool blazer. You can see my choice, below.

Jacket, Avanti (thrifted). Sweater tunic, Wet Seal (thrifted). Tee, Mossimo. Leggings, We Love Colors. Boots, Miz Mooz. Bag, Steve Madden. Sunglasses, Earthbound Trading Co. Earrings, Charming Charlie. Rings, Black Hills Gold and vintage.

You can’t please all the people all the time.

The two choices:

What choice would you have made?

Waffle and a Blazer

After seeing these patterns together, I couldn’t wait to pair this paisley velvet blazer with this fox-print waffle shirt. Halloween and pub trivia seemed to be the right occasion.

Blazer, BSB (thrifted). Shirt, Mossimo. Jeans, Old Navy. Boots, Lauren Ralph Lauren. Bag, Steve Madden. Earrings, Charming Charlie.

To make this the lamest nod at Halloween, ever, I added kitty ears and a bell collar.

My 365 photos are both about my morning runs with the dogs.

These three dogs live in a yard that borders an athletic field through which we run. I think there is a shed or a woodpile that they climb to peek over the 6 foot fence. Once, one of them jumped the fence and it was terrifying.

Jackson loves his runs, but hates the harness. He runs and hides when I pull it out. He isn’t a good hider.

Rainy Day Curls

When rain is in the forecast, I either reach for the curling iron or a hat. Sleek, straight hair is an impossibility when a storm front moves in.

Poncho, Aziza. Shirt, Jones New York (thrifted). Skirt, Bass (thrifted). Boots, Steve Madden. Earrings, Stardust Remembered. Bag, Rebecca Minkoff.

I can’t complain about the rain. We need it, and we had beautiful weather for the weekend!

My volunteer group took ten kids to Point Reyes on Saturday. Some of them had never been to the ocean before!

Beefy and I took a photography class on Sunday. Afterwards, I played “model.”

Do I really need an excuse for curls?

Pinkbrow

I’m not sure if I should be proud of my reading list for the summer. My book bin isn’t full of romance novels, but it isn’t all Greek classics and philosophy, either. It’s a mix of science, self-discovery, history, and adventure. Not a highbrow selection, but not lowbrow, either.

My summer sabbatical (and book reading) starts in early July. For now, I’m just pinkbrow.

Dress, Equipment. Shoes, Nine West. Earrings, Stardust Remembered. Necklace, thrifted. Sunglasses, Coco Sunglasses. Bag, Aldo.

The book bin is filling up!

Group Photo

Group photos are the worst. The larger the group, the greater the chance that someone will be blinking, speaking, or picking their nose. Then there’s always the joker that ruins the photo by giving the person in front of them bunny ears. I prefer single portraits.

No bunny ears here! (And I never publish the awkward, “not ready” pics.)

Shirt, Banana Republic. Skirt, Carole Little (thrifted). Shoes, Isaac Mizrahi. Sunglasses, Coco Sunglasses. Belt, H&M. Bag, Aldo.

I did take a photo of our Toastmasters group tonight, in honor of two special speeches given by James Jeffley, 2014 and 2015 World Championship of Public Speaking Finalist.

And yes, at least four of the takes were ruined by bunny ears. You'll never guess who the culprits were.

Cute Overload

My 365 photos for the last three days are all Jackson. What can I say? He’s cute and he’s moderately cooperative.

Dress, Gap. Belt, Sugadaminka. Heels, Seychelles. Sunglasses, Target. Earrings, Stardust Remembered. Bag, SheBoBo.

Bookworm

I miss riding the bus to and from work. I’d wedge myself into a seat between another passenger and the window and get lost in a book. Now, I drive for hours a day and reading while doing so isn’t a good idea. Every now and then, I’ll binge read an ebook over the weekend, but I don’t seem to have nearly as much time for reading without the bus ride. I’m looking forward to an upcoming camping trip with minimal driving and lots of books!

Shirt, Banana Republic (thrifted). Skirt, J Crew (consignment). Shoes, Charles David. Sunglasses, Coco Sunglasses. Earrings, Charming Charlie. Belt, thrifted. Bag, Imoshion.

I love thrifting for books!
