I Shot Lisa

My calendar is filling up with photography appointments. It’s starting to look like an assassin’s daybook with “shoot Lisa,” “shoot Sam,” “shoot Julia.” I may want to reconsider how I title the bookings.

Coat, Avanti (thrifted). Sweater, Banana Republic (thrifted and gifted). Tunic, Rachel Roy (consignment). Leggings, Amour. Boots, Vince Camuto. Earrings, Claire’s. Bag, Rebecca Minkoff.

I took these photos after shooting Lisa of The Everyday Elevated She’s totally adorable. I’d share a picture from our session, but I’m still editing boudoir pics from Friday. My goal is to finish those, today!

The Things We Do

Another basketball game, another lame attempt at wearing some purple. These are the things we do for those, we love. Watching sports is a supreme form of torture for me. However, I was pleased to find Otra Vez on tap at the new arena. And there were baby races during a time out.

Poncho, Aziza. Denim shirt, Mossimo. Tunic, Rachel Roy (consignment). Boots, Style & Co (thrifted). Bag, Rebecca Minkoff.

The walk to and from the lightrail was cold (for Sacramento), so I pushed the poncho into a giant scarf and wore a down-filled jacket over my outfit.

Caboose

This look is best appreciated from the back. It’s got special details like a button-back sweater and striped socks peeking out of the boots to contrast with the camo leggings. It’s one of those “I hate to see you leave, but I love to watch you walk away” outfits.

Jacket, BCBG Max Azria (consignment). Sweater, Gibson (thrifted). Shorts, Free People (thrifted). Leggings, Amour. Socks, Sock Dreams. Boots, Vince Camuto. Earrings, Claire’s Boutique. Necklace, auction. Bag, vintage.

Sudden Drop

After all the poncho talk on Tuesday (and looking at poncho pics on Pinterest), I couldn’t wait to try a double turtleneck look with my striped top and gray poncho today. (P.S. As of year 11, all of my outfits are on Pinterest, too!)

I’m thankful for a sudden drop in temperatures that has made outfits like this wearable in Sacramento. (Although I wasn’t too excited about the plunge at Thursday night swim practice.)

Poncho, thrifted. Turtleneck, Gap (swap). Jeans, Old Navy. Boots, Ariat. Sunglasses, Earthbound Trading Co. Earrings, Rose Bowl flea market. Bag, vintage.

P.P.S. I went thrifting today! I’ll tell you all about it, tomorrow. (The snapchat has already expired.)

Buffalo Plaid Zeitgeist

Red and black buffalo check shirts are EVERYWHERE this fall. We stopped in Truckee and a couple of viewpoints along Lake Tahoe and men and women alike were sporting their lumberjack best. To really fit in with the hipsters, I needed a beanie, puffy vest, and aviators. But since when have I succeeded at “fitting in?”

Jacket, Via Spiga. Shirt, Salt Valley (consignment). Tunic, Rachel Roy (consignment). Leggings, Express. Boots, Style & Co (thrifted). Earrings, Rose Bowl flea market.

Rainy Day Curls

When rain is in the forecast, I either reach for the curling iron or a hat. Sleek, straight hair is an impossibility when a storm front moves in.

Poncho, Aziza. Shirt, Jones New York (thrifted). Skirt, Bass (thrifted). Boots, Steve Madden. Earrings, Stardust Remembered. Bag, Rebecca Minkoff.

I can’t complain about the rain. We need it, and we had beautiful weather for the weekend!

My volunteer group took ten kids to Point Reyes on Saturday. Some of them had never been to the ocean before!

Beefy and I took a photography class on Sunday. Afterwards, I played “model.”

Do I really need an excuse for curls?

Witchy Woman

My parents were afraid I’d be a Halloween baby and forever cursed by Satan, but I held on for a few days. We never celebrated the evil holiday as children, but my grown sister is a Halloween fanatic, now. I enjoy watching the revelry, but seldom participate.

Shirt, Levi’s (thrifted). Tunic, Rachel Roy (consignment). Leggings, Express. Boots, Style & Co (thrifted). Earrings, Rain’s Embellishments. Bag, Rebecca Minkoff.

I’m getting into the spirit with my sugar skull earrings and pumpkin soup.

I don’t actually like the dark and shorter days. They make me sleepy. But I have an excuse to lie in bed and catch up on my blogs. Finally, my Feedly queue is at less than “499+” unread posts. (That’s as high as the count goes.)

Under the Bridge

You never know what you might find under the bridge. A man, parked in his car, smoking a joint. A shrine made from stones, crayfish claws, and a beer bottle cap. An oddly dressed woman posing for an unmanned tripod.

Coat, Lilli Ann San Francisco (vintage). Sweater, Full Tilt (thrifted). Striped tee, American Apparel. Shorts, Lassie. Tights, We Love Colors. Boots, Sam Edelman. Earrings, Claire’s. Bag, Rebecca Minkoff.

I took a picture of the shrine for you and snapchatted the woman (whatiwore2day). The pot-smoker spooked and drove away.
