Chicken or the Egg?

Today I was asked which came first . . . “the jacket or the hair?” You guys know I’ve been a fan of this color (and the jacket) long before the hair.

Take Only Photographs

Beefy and I headed to Cache Creek this afternoon to birdwatch. We were committed to taking only pictures and leaving only footprints, but someone else was leaving bullet holes. The gunfire sent most of the wildlife into hiding and curtailed our walk down Rayhouse Road. We gave up and were headed out when we saw a bald eagle . . . Beefy’s first!

In fact, I spotted the eagle as Beefy was taking the last of my outfit pictures! It came flying up the valley, not far above Cache Creek itself. Maybe he wanted his ensemble photographed, too? Unfortunately, the camera settings were adjusted for backlit Kasmira, not soaring eagles. We’ll catch you next time, buddy!

Obvious

I’m not known for my subtlety. Beefy knows better than to point out an interesting person to me because I’ll stop dead in my tracks, swivel my head, and stare. This time, I’m the one causing stares.

January Purchases

For a girl with shopping ennui, I managed to spend plenty in January.

Amazon

1. Madeline boots, gift. I purchased these with an Amazon gift card from Beefy’s mother. I debated between this pair and a very similar pair by Nine West, but didn’t think the Nine West pair looked three times as good (since they cost three times as much) even if they were real leather.


TJ Maxx

2. Sans Souci black brocade shorts, $14.99. Fancy shorts! Somehow much more modest than a skirt of the same length.


Target

3. Mossimo leggings, $19.99. I can’t pass up a unique pair of leggings. Not when a short skirt and leggings is my winter uniform.
4. Mossimo tunic, $22.99. I bought this little tunic to fill a very specific need: a butt-covering garment (for wear with leggings) that looked quasi-professional but would be durable and comfortable enough to set up an event. It performed beautifully.


Bebe

5. Contrast fabric sleeveless dress, $169.99. You might think a leather and spandex dress is only appropriate for a cocktail event (and that’s just where I wore it), but I intend to wear it during the day quite a bit. The layering possibilities are endless.


Pomegranate Salon

6. Stella and Dot Sofia pearl bib necklace, $50. When I left the house on this morning, I wasn’t wearing a necklace. I found the perfect one to complete my look (and many looks to come!) at my first appointment of the day.

I’m loving this reworking of a traditional suit, in traditional colors.

I wasn’t kidding when I said I was looking to cowgirls for sartorial inspiration. Just be glad I stopped short of wearing western boots with this outfit.

Under the Bypass

I took these pictures under I-80, at one end of the Yolo Bypass. It was surprisingly windy under there, but also surprisingly quiet. The sounds of the freeway were obnoxiously loud as I approached the bypass, but deadened underneath. That’s a well-built bypass.

I can’t take credit for my hair. I was professionally colored, cut, and styled as a hair model for an event. It sure looks awesome, though!

Birds of a Feather

Taking daily self portraits of oneself is not normal. It’s even less normal when done in public. So, it’s no surprise that I meet other not normal people while engaged in this activity. This works out well, since I don’t like normal people.
