Tenth Blogoversary

It’s my tenth blogoversary and I’m not quitting this outfit diary. Are you curious about what’s new in Year Eleven of WhatIWore2Day?

Shirt, Moda International. Skirt, Talbot’s. Shoes, Enzo Angiolini.

First of all, I’ve given up on replacing the green cardigan that I wore with this blouse and skirt in my very first outfit post (and the first four blogoversaries). After the sweater was ruined by dye transfer from a dark purple shirt, I attempted to replace it with three different green jackets and a denim vest for my later blogoversaries. This year, I just wore a nude camisole underneath and went topper-less. This is California, after all. We still see 80 degrees and higher in October.

Second, I’m embracing my natural hair color. It used to be dishwater blonde, but now it’s coming in silvery and I like it.

Last, I am trying Snapchat as a platform to show you behind the scenes, outfit details, and outfits in motion. My user name is whatiwore2day. (I’ll be honest, I’m still trying to figure it out, but Beefy is younger than I, so hopefully he’ll help.)

Here’s to another great year!

Capacity

My days are pretty full. I’m up early to exercise the dogs and usually have an evening activity. Of course, work happens in the middle. I’m currently training another sales consultant and I don’t know how I’m managing to fit it all in (as well as continue to blog!)

Dress, Banana Republic (consignment). Dress (worn as a slip), Mossimo. Shoes, Seychelles. Sunglasses, Toms. Earrings, street fair. Bag, Aldo.

I’m still managing to snag outfit shots, but editing the photos and putting them into a blog post is more of a time challenge.

$9.99 Sunglasses

I’m hard on sunglasses, so I buy the cheapies. And, since I spend very little on them, I embrace the quirky styles. I was alerted to a new sunglasses shop in Davis, full of $9.99 options, and this is one of my new pairs.

Shirt, FY2 (thrifted). Dress, Ella Moss. Boots, Joe’s. Sunglasses, no label. Belt, H&M. Bag, Charming Charlie.

I have to save my pennies for my very expensive athletic club membership. If it weren’t for the Masters Swim coaching, I’d totally do a cheapie gym.

I felt very virtuous for biking to swim practice this evening.

Ninth Blogoversary

As I begin my 10th year of What I Wore 2Day, I can’t help thinking this might be a good year to end on. “Ten” is a nice round number. I wouldn’t want to end on “nine” or “eleven.” But I’m not ready to quit this daily outfit project, yet.

I still enjoy posting every(ish) day. I love the writing and the photography. The actual clothes are just an excuse to be creative.

As I prepare to enter my 4th decade, I feel an obligation to represent the aging woman in the fashion and style blogosphere. Twenty-somethings are always going to look great in their Forever 21 pieces and skyscraper heels. The real trick is to dress an aging body and incorporate evolving style into an established wardrobe.

I also feel an increasing pressure to represent slow fashion. I want to role model environmentally friendly choices like secondhand clothing and ethically produced new pieces. I want to consume less, more consciously, and look good doing so.

I hope to inspire women to express their creativity, embrace their age, and make their world a better place for at least a few more years.

Vest, AC-3998 (cut from a thrifted jacket). Blouse, Newport News. Skirt, Talbots. Boots, Franco Sarto (consignment).

I think you’ll get to see this blouse and skirt a few more times.
