Olive with Pastels

These boots are magical. They bring together colors as disparate as olive drab and soft pastels. I think I could have worked some neon in there, too.

Sweater, Takeout. Turtleneck, Old Navy. Skirt, London Jean. Tights, B. Ella. Boots, Ariat. Sunglasses, Betsey Johnson. Necklace, vintage. Bag, thrifted.

Mod Lilli Ann Coat

I feel like I’ve brought this coat home again. This vintage Lilli Ann coat was made in San Francisco in the 60’s. Somehow, it made its way to the costume closet of The Drama Workshop in Cincinnati. It then migrated a few miles north to my wardrobe and, later, a few thousand west to Sacramento…almost back to San Francisco!

I love the pattern. It’s busy, but the colors are neutral, so it goes with everything:

Well, at least I think it goes with everything. How would you wear a patterned coat?

Color Is My Middle Name

So, maybe a bright orange jacket, purple tights, and green boots is a little much, but what else would you expect from me?

Vavavoom

Red and double leopard certainly looked vavavoom, but I wasn’t feeling it. I couldn’t wait to change into snuggly pants and curl up on the couch with a glass of wine and Revolution.

Jacket, H&M (thrifted). Blouse, FY2 (thrifted). Sweater, INC. Skirt, Talbot’s (thrifted). Tights, We Love Colors. Boots, Nine West.

I’m not sure if it’s the weather or impending illness sapping my mojo. I’m hoping for more energy tomorrow and certainly some vavavoom by Friday, when Beefy arrives…to stay!

Didn't Read the Book

I will NOT title this post with a reference to or pun on Fifty Shades of Grey. I haven’t even read the book and I’m sick of hearing about it.

Blazer, White House Black Market (thrifted). Dress, Bar III. Tights, Forever 21. Shoes, Madden Girl. Earrings, vintage. Scarf, Marshall’s. Belt, Gap. Clutch, Express.

Don’t think I was too snobbish or prudish to read Fifty Shades of Grey. I was just busy reading other trash. At this point, I won’t read it simply because it’s been so overhyped. And here I am, giving it more press. Ack.

Someone just needs to give me this book as a gift so I can stop being so high and mighty about not reading it.

December in Northern California

So, this is December in Northern California? Blazers as outerwear, lightweight dresses, and bare legs? I’ll take it.

Blazer, The Limited. Dress, Merona. Boots, Nine West. Bag, Fossil. Suglasses, Betsey Johnson.

November Purchases

In November, I bought a few cheap thrills and one, big, expensive thrill

TJ Maxx

1. Madden Girl shorty boots with fabric upper, $22.00

These replaced the blogoversary jacket (which suffered from a “terminal mustard stain”) in my November capsule.

Target

4. One Star ruffled, leopard miniskirt, $17.48.

And this replaced the sweater with a holey armpit in last month’s capsule.

Those swaps were totally logical, right?

Amazon

3. Ariat Indian Sugar Soule Boot, $119.99.

These actually retail for a bit more, but I was fortunate enough to receive gift cards for the remainder of the purchase price. Thank you to Beefy, Beefy’s dad, Beefy’s stepmom, Beefy’s mom, and my good friend Colette. It takes a village to buy expensive boots.

November total: $156.47

Total spending for the year: $1423.14.

One month left!
